Dr. Kenneth Aschheim graduated with honors from New York University College of Dentistry in 1981. His postdoctoral training including a residency in General Dentistry at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center/Albert Einstein Medical School (1981 - 1982) and a residency in Dental Anesthesiology at the Manhattan VA Hospital/New York University/ Bellevue Hospital Center (1982 - 1983). He joined the staff of the Department Of Dentistry at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in 1986 as a Clinical Instructor and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 1992 and Section Chief of Esthetic Dentistry and Advanced Technologies in 1999. He was elevated to Associate Clinical Professor in 2004.

Dr. Aschheim has more than 20 years of private practice experience in all aspects of Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry. He has lectured and conducted workshops throughout the world and has been a major contributor to the dental literature. He has coauthored two editions of the textbook Esthetic Dentistry: A Clinical Approach to Techniques and Materials (Elsevier, Amsterdam, NL). This textbook has also been translated into Spanish and Polish. He has also served as a consultant to numerous dental companies on various high-tech dental technologies.

Following the September 11th attack of the World Trade Center, Dr. Aschheim became a dental consultant to the Office of the Medical Examiner for the City of New York. He was instrumental in setting up the digital image acquisition section and served as a liaison between the department and the developer of the dental identification software utilized by the NYC Medical Examiner 's office. Since that time he has developed a new software package that should further reduce the time necessary to make a dental identification in mass disasters and has given lectures and workshops on the subject.

Dr. Yakir Arteaga graduated with honors from New York University College of Dentistry in 2000. He received his postdoctoral training in general dentistry at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and was followed by a residency program in Dental Implantology, Cosmetics and Dental Rehabilitation at the Mount Sinai Medical Center/New York University College of Dentistry (2001 - 2002).

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Arteaga has been actively involved in resident training at Mount Sinai. He joined the staff of the Department of Dentistry in 2002 as a Clinical Instructor and was promoted to Section Chief of a General Dentistry Section in 2004.

Fluency in Spanish has permitted him to participate in a number of dental outreach programs to the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua by contributing dental care to remote communities. He has also lectured on Dental Technology, Dental Implantology and Reconstructive Dentistry.

Dr. Arteaga has been active with the New York County Dental Society. He serves on the Membership Committee which recruits new dentists to become part of organized dentistry. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors.

Dr. Jack Hirsch - RETIRED

Dr. Jack Hirsch graduated magna cum laude from the University of Iowa in 1951 where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He returned to New York City and received his dental degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 1955. His postdoctoral residency took place at Mount Sinai Hospital and was followed by two years service as a dentist in the United States Air Force. Returning to New York City in 1958, he rejoined the attending staff at Mount Sinai Hospital as a Clinical Assistant Dentist and, following the opening of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor. He remains active with the Department of Dentistry as Clinic Coordinator and teacher and is the departmental representative on the board of the Association of the Attending Staff of the hospital.

Dr. Hirsch has been in private practice for forty-five years. During this time, he has developed an expertise in diagnosis, treatment planning and reconstructive and cosmetic dentistry. Many of our patients are members of families who have been cared for by Dr. Hirsch for more than thirty to forty years.

Dr. Hirsch has been very active with the New York County Dental Society and is still a member of its Board of Directors. In addition, he is a member of the District Claims Committee whose mandate is the evaluation of malpractice claims against members of the society.
